Menton - Sospel tramline

The line officially existed between 1912 and 1933. One of the reasons to create it was the transport of buildings materials to construction of railway to Brail - sur - Roya. The route length was 17,279 km.

The opening took place on 15th April 1912 and it was not the luckiest date - Titanic sank at night of 14th April. Life of the scenic tram was also not too long. In 1928 the line between Nice and Cuneo has been completed, taking many customers. Also the development of bus transport reduced the profitability of investment. The last tram ran in 1931.

Regardless of history we can still admire the remains of the tram line 46 from Nice to Sospel. Good achievements of engineering and architecture, viaducts: Carmel,Careï and Monti.
