Bar-sur-Loup

Le Bar became Le Bar-sur-Loup in 1961. Le loup (the wolf) is the name of the local river.

On the right side of this photo you can see Ribas Viaduct, remains of the Colomars - Meyrargues Railroad Line.  There was another one, much bigger Loup Viaduct and some of his tall pillars are still visible near the village.

The gorge of river Loup is visible from the road D6 to Gourdon. There are two waterfalls worth to see: Cascade de Courmes (going from le Bar-sur-Loup it's just behind the tunnel near the bridge Pont de l'Abime ) and Saut du Loup (a little further - next to the parking).

Of course is better to watch them when the snows melt.
