Antibes
Antibes is a resort town located between Cannes and Nice. It was founded by the Phoenicians, Greeks from Asia Minor and became an important trading centre due to his natural harbour. This harbour developed into Port Vauban, now one of the largest marina in the Mediterranean Sea.
One of the most charming places in the city is the area of the Free Commune of Safranier (Commune Libre du Safranier). It was founded in the 60s to create festivals, preserve the traditions and unite the habitants. The Free Commune of Safranier organize the square boules/pétanque contest.
The famous resident of Safranier was Nikos Kazantzakis - author of the novel "Zorba the Greek". Also other great aritists decided to spend some time in the city, among them were: Claude Monet, Pablo Picasso, Nicolas de Staël and Hans Hartung.

Absinthe Bar is the place where people can find the atmosphere of Golden Twenties, drinking absinth in very sophisticated way and wearing peculiar, funny hats.
There are at least two places with georgous views giving the possibility to hide from the crowd: nice path arround Fort Carré and the lighthouse hill (Le phare de Garoupe). To reach the lighthouse you need to follow Le Chemin du Calvaire, starting from La Salis beach (Plage de la Salis).
Intriguing, entirely consisting of letters sculpture made by Jaume Plensa is placed in Bastion Saint Jaume. It's interesting that the artist and the place wear the same name. "Conversation in Nice" is also his work (figures glowing in different colors at Massena square in Nice).
